Nairobi Hotel Ranked Most Quiet in Africa

Ndemi Place, a hotel in Nairobi's upmarket estate of Kilimani, has been ranked the quietest in Africa by British publication Morning.co.uk, which ranked hotels based on their levels of peace and tranquility.

The facility emerged top in the continent with a 38.68 per cent quiet mentions by the respondents of a survey by travel enthusiasts.

Ndemi has maintained the lowest noise levels despite being a few kilometres from Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) and other entertainment joints in its locality.

"We wanted to know which were which – so we analyzed thousands of TripAdvisor reviews to find the hotels with the most mentions of the word 'quiet'. The Ndemi Place in Nairobi, Kenya, is the quietest hotel in Africa," read the report by the publication in part.

The St. Gaspar Hotel and Conference Center in Dodoma, Tanzania, and Huma Resorts in Kampala, Uganda, came in second and third with 34.62 and 28.83 per cent respectively.

Notably, it ranked second in the world, coming after The Little Garden Boutique in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, averaging 41.28 mentions in the survey. New Delhi's Denva came in third with 34.74 percentage points.

Previously a family house, the hotel offers accommodation in its has several options: single, twin and deluxe double rooms. Its contemporary interior and lush gardens make it serene, offering guests tranquility away from the city. 

As a four-star hotel, it also offers other services for guests who check in for business or leisure. 

The ranking comes barely weeks after Eden Hotel was listed among the best new facilities in the world by the Conde Nast Traveller, in 'The Annual Hot List 2022' survey.

Based along Lang'ata road in Nairobi, the hotel stood out for its birdsong and lush grounds. The hotel also spots artworks collected by the family that owned the home throughout a lifetime, creating a museum-like feeling.

"Few hotels feel quite as much like like a living museum. As well as Anna's (the founder) signature layering of colour and texture, walls are crammed with Tonio's wild portraits and there are ceramics by daughter Lana and Bronzes by son Stanislaw," the report read.
