Kiambu gubernatorial hopeful, William Gitau Kabogo, has called out his Kenya Kwanza counterparts over their name-calling campaign tactic, arguing that important issues affecting Kenyans were being ignored during political meetings.

Speaking during an interview on K24 TV on Tuesday, May 24, the Tujibebe Wakenya Party leader citing as non-beneficial slogans the Deputy President William Ruto's team uses to refer to the former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

Nonetheless, he stated that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party was also guilty of name-calling, adding that such campaign tactics need to change as they were not giving solutions to problems faced by Kenyans.

"We have really disorganized our politics in Kenya such that it is about insults. When will we discuss issues, policies, and ideas that will take Kenya to the next level?

"From this side, you will hear 'mtu wa kitendawili', and from that side, you will hear about corruption. Where will this take us as a country? When will we be like other countries where after elections, people go back to build their nation. We have serious problems with our language," he stated.

On many occasions, Ruto and his team have referred to Raila Odinga as a politician who was more focused on telling stories and his history rather than focusing on economic development. The Azimio team, on the other hand, has hit out at Kenya Kwanza over their stand on corruption.

Additionally, Kabogo noted that he was not seeking a share in Ruto's government, adding that he had a different agreement with the DP.

Kabogo stated that he agreed with Ruto that his government, if elected in August, would implement the one-man one-shilling economic model proposed in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which will eventually see Mount Kenya counties get more resources.

"I was asked what I would get after Musalia Mudavadi and  Moses Wetangula share 30 per cent, and I said that I did not go there to share seats. They said there will be a top-up to counties, it will be shared in accordance with the population

"If I feel it is not happening, I will shout to the top of my voice. That promise has been made in public and it must be in writing so that resources follow people," he stated.

He made the statements days after he threatened to quit the faction after his economic agreement was not captured in the leaked Kenya Kwanza deal.

"I have called him and challenged him to explain why they are sharing seats and the agreement has no mention of the interests of the Mt Kenya region. If he does not correct that, I will leave since the election is yet to be held - let him know it's still early and people can change their minds," he stated then.
