Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, has made public his secondary school and university education results amid claims that he failed in his final examinations.
In a statement dated Saturday, May 28, Malala - who is in the race to succeed governor Wycliffe Oparanya - posted the secondary school certificate he acquired from Friends Schools Kamusinga.
According to his results, Malala attained a mean grade of B plain having scored B- (minus) in English, Kiswahili B+ (plus), Mathematics B- (minus), Biology B (plain), Chemistry B (plain), Geography B+ (plus), Social Education and Ethics B+ (plus).
According to the KCSE certificate, he took seven subjects in the period between November and December of 2003.
Malala later joined the United States International University (USIU) where he pursued Information Systems and Technology.
"The Commission for University Education (CUE) has duly certified and recognized my academic credentials and henceforth advised the IEBC to clear me to contest in the August 2022 gubernatorial election, Kakamega county," the Senator stated.
According to the Senator, he already presented the academic documents to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) led by chairman Wafula Chebukati. The electoral agency, after verifying the legitimacy of his credentials, cleared him to contest for Kakamega governor seat.
Malala is vying on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket and has since earned the support of Kenya Kwanza coalition led by deputy president, William Ruto.
He is poised to battle it out with Azimio La Umoja's Fernandes Barasa, who has teamed up with Lugari Member of Parliament, Ayub Savula.
His political ambitions have been on an upward trajectory as he started as a Member of County Assembly (MCA) before being elected as Kakamega Senator in the 2013 General Election.
