Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah on Sunday, June 12, appointed comedian Wilson Muirani, popularly known as Jaymo Ule Msee, as his campaign spokesperson.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Muirani will be the official spokesperson for the candidate and will also be responsible for coordinating the party's media engagements.

Muirani holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Nairobi and has experience in digital marketing and strategy.

Apart from his work as a content creator, the comedian has worked as a radio presenter with Homeboyz and was also part of the Jubilee Party team that campaigned for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.

"His experience and credentials are an asset to Roots Party as he is aligned to the ideology of the party and Kenya at large, and fully supports the presidential candidate together with the running mate," the statement from the presidential candidate read in part.

Muirani's appointment came a day after he held a meeting at Wajackoyah's office. The comedian accepted the job, promising to live up to the party's vision of emerging victorious in the August 9 General Election.

"I truly thank Prof Wajackoyah, our running mate and our party officials for having faith in me to serve in our party to ensure we get a resounding victory on August 9. It is time for our generation to make the right choices," he stated.

Jaymo Ule Msee adds the list of spokespersons leading the presidential campaigns. He joins Prof Makau Mutua - Spokesperson of the Raila Odinga Campaign and Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo.

In UDA, the position is held by former Citizen journalist Hussein Mohamed, who is the Director of Communication at the William Ruto Presidential campaign.

Wajackoyah's presidential bid has stood out owing to his approach to handling pertinent issues such as graft and public debt. He vowed to hang those who are found liable of corruption.

The presidential candidate also plans to offset the debt owed to China by introducing snake farming. Snakes and snake venom would be sold to the Chinese in for revenue.

In addition, he promised to legalize the cultivation of marijuana, which will not only be used locally but also exported to other countries.

His popularity has caused political waves with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria terming him a threat that could cause the country to go for a run off.
