The Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) Director General, Ezra Chiloba, has announced the revocation of licenses of 15 postal and courier services in the country.

In a notice seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the DG noted that the listed companies failed to meet the stipulated conditions required for a valid license.

Some of these companies include Al-Micdada Parcel Services, Apollo Express Limited, Joham Moving Enterprises, Grafa International Limited, Dana Communications Limited, Samper Tours and Travel.

Others include Across Border Courier Limited, Blessings Parcel Services Limited, Destiny Parcel Services Limited, Rising Freight Limited and Roy Parcel Services Limited.

Spanish Courier Limited, Zissou Group Limited, VIckers Security Services Limited and Exodus Parcels Limited have also been affected by the crackdown.

"CAK is also responsible for managing the country's numbering and frequency spectrum resources, administrering the Universal Service Fund (USF) as well as protecting interests of users of ICT."

"Subject to the postal/courier licence conditions, the Authority wishes to notify the public that it has revoked the postal/ courier licenses held by the listed firms," Chiloba stated.

In April 2021, the Authority also delisted 21 courier companies for not meeting the licensing conditions.

CAK has been cracking down on companies operating without valid licenses. In October 2021, Chiloba was directed by ICT Cabinet Secretary, Joe Mucheru, to go after e-commerce firms and postal services that conduct busines without meeting licensing conditions.

“The authority is currently carrying out a market study in the postal and courier sub-sector in order to establish the service access gaps to inform remedies and initiatives towards boosting services for consumers

“The findings will enable the authority to take some interventions and address some of the noted challenges experienced by players and consumers of postal courier services," Chiloba stated at the time.
