Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, who is a member of Kenya Kwanza alliance now claims that Azimio bigwigs in Mount Kenya including Jubilee Vice chair, David Murathe, lack the courage and tenacity to campaign for Raila Odinga.
In a statement on Wednesday, June 29, the lawmaker appeared to respond to Murathe's interview on Inooro TV and warned Raila to reconsider such leaders or tame them.
The MP argued that Murathe is only preoccupied with DP William Ruto's identity instead of campaigning for him in the region.
Kuria also urged Raila to lower his expectations on leaders of Murathe's ilk noting that they are only deceitful and cannot take the risk to campaign for him in the vote-rich Mount Kenya region.
“I have just finished listening to David Murathe on Inooro TV. During the one-hour interview, he mentioned our candidate 13 times. He was never addressed by name.
"Raila Odinga, my friend hawa watu wanakuuza kama bhangi bana. Mimi nawajua (Raila, these people are selling you like bhang. I know them) I know you like the back of my mind,” Kuria stated.
This comes after the two main presidential candidates named top politicians from Mount Kenya as their running mates, proving how crucial the region is in determining the country’s next president.
Raila Odinga, who is giving the presidency the a fifth stab, is seeking support from the likes of Murathe to get a share of the Mount Kenya vote.
Moses Kuria, who is seeking the Kiambu gubernatorial seat using his Chama cha Kazi party, has a time and again warned Raila to expect a resounding defeat again.
He noted that the Azimio flag bearer will lose again because of depending on leaders in the caliber of Murathe who have no influence at the ground level.
Recently, Kuria alleged that Kameme FM presenters Kamlesh and Mkagari were actively promoting his opponent to become the governor of Kiambu. He also accused the presenters of propagating lies and hatred against him and other aspirants.
The MP ended his political rivalry with the Deputy President-led UDA party but has resorted to campaigning alone.
Kuria and other Kenya Kwanza gubernatorial aspirants in Kiambu were embroiled in a political supremacy tussle after UDA’s presidential running mate, Rigathi Gachagua, opted to campaign for Kimani Wamatangi.
