Deputy President, William Ruto, has recorded a eight per cent drop in his approval ratings if the presidential elections were to be held today.
The poll released by Infotrak on Wednesday, July 6, showed that Ruto's popularity stood at 30 per cent down from 38 per cent in Nairobi county.
His rival, Azimio la Umoja's Raila Odinga, however, recorded a seven per cent increase, from 42 per cent in the previous opinion poll to the current 49 per cent.
George Wajackoyah's popularity is also growing with the Roots Party presidential candidate recording a five per cent approval rating. Agano Party's David Waihiga recorded a 0.3 percent popularity rate.
The most popular reason respondents had for supporting Raila include his experience and development track record. He scored 70 per cent as opposed to Ruto's 45 per cent.
A section of the respondents, however, intimated that their support for the Deputy President was based on the fact that he had good plans for the country. Alluding to this, Ruto scored 41 per cent as opposed to Raila's 19 per cent.
Raila Odinga and his running mate, Martha Karua, received the majority of votes from the male gender (52 per cent) as opposed to female (47 per cent).
Ruto alongside his running mate, Rigathi Gachagua, however, received 30 per cent votes from the male gender as opposed to 29 per cent from the female gender.
George Wajackoyah and his running mate, Justina Wamae recorded a four percent from the male gender as opposed to six percent from the female gender.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) still maintained the most popular political party with 51 per cent, followed by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA's 31 per cent. Jubilee Party rounded the top three with an eight per cent.
48 per cent of the respondents supported the Azimio One Kenya Alliance as opposed to Kenya Kwanza's 31 per cent.
The poll was conducted through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews with a sample size of 1,024 Kenyans. Infotrak targetted persons aged 18 years and above. It covered all the 17 constituencies and 85 wards of Nairobi county.
