Traveling to a new country either for leisure or business is always an exciting experience. This can, however, be compounded by a culture shock.
Turkey is primed as one of the best producers of designer clothes and is home to some of the best hospitals in the world. Many Kenyans travel there for many reasons. They, however, need to prepare in advance.
Traveling to Turkey requires Kenyans to adhere to some regulations or risk cancellation of their visas. Before applying for a Turkish visa and being on a plane for close to 7 hours, here are some of the things you need to know.
Trip Duration
Kenyans can only stay a maximum of 30 days in Turkey. Also, the Turkish visa is a single-entry document meaning you can only use the visa once to get into the country. Single-entry visas are often applied through the internet and it takes less time compared to multi-entry visas.
Purchasing a ticket
A round-trip ticket to Turkey must be purchased through Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, Onur Air, or AtlasGlobal Airlines only. In Turkey, some of the main tourist attractions include Istanbul, Ankara, and beach cities (Antalya and Bodrum).
Accommodation
Accommodation in Turkey needs to be planned before applying for a visa. You will need to make hotel reservations before applying for the visa.
Daily Expenditure
The Turkish Embassy wants to ensure that you have adequate funds while in Turkey. Therefore, for each day you stay in the country, you must have at least Ksh5,000.
Travel Disclosure
In a bid to keep track of the Kenyan visitors in Turkey, the Turkish Embassy requires that each person demonstrate the purpose of the trip, either for business or leisure.
Passport
You must have a passport valid for at least six (6) months from your arrival in Turkey, and it must have at least two blank pages.
Valid Visa
E-visas are not recognized as supporting papers. Kenyans are advised to get a valid visa or a valid resident permit from one of the Schengen nations, the United States, the United Kingdom, or Ireland.
