Azimio La Umoja's presidential running mate, Martha Karua, stitched her own dress in a rush to beat the hectic campaign program.

Karua, on Monday, July 25, hand-sewed her torn dress inside her Lexus car heading towards rallies in Thika and Kajiado counties.

In the clip seen by Kenyan.co.keKarua explained that she was taking precautions as the torn area was at risk of further splitting.

"Something pulled the thread and it came off so I am trying to fix it.

"It is just a small area I need to hold together," she explained.

Karua added that sewing the dress would help her save time since she had a packed day ahead.

"I will be comfortable for the rest of the day and I do not have to change. I will be going to lots of places today including Thika, to meet with the Mau Mau," she reiterated.

The clip gained traction on social media with Kenyans lauding her for her humility.

Others opined that her actions showed the importance of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) adopted in schools after the end of the 8-4-4 system.

"This is absolutely wonderful. A good example to our CBC children. You don't have to throw away your clothes or take them to the fundi. You can mend and continue with your work," Wagikii, a TikToker stated.

"This lady is so amazing. You don't have to go back home to change the cloth just for a small issue," Daniel Abina wrote.

At Thika Stadium, Karua was endorsed for the deputy president's seat by the Mau Mau veterans.

On her part, she promised that if elected, her government, under Raila Odinga, would ensure that the welfare of the freedom fighters is protected.

In addition, she affirmed that Mount Kenya region would benefit from the new regime.

“We want all our children in Kenya to study for free, from nursery, primary, secondary schools to the university.

"We have a plan to revive our economy and bring industries to all our counties to help our children to get jobs,” she assured.
