Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe's son Davidson Gatuhi Wakairu is set to fully venture into the world of politics, should Jubilee Party secure majority seats in the Nairobi County Assembly.

According to the final nominees' list gazetted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Thursday, July 28, Wakairu was among names forwarded for consideration as nominated MCAs.

He was nominated alongside Anab Jow Dinale, Charles Nderitu Gichangi, Mercy Njeri Onsando, Billy Arocho Orunga and Nelly Nyambura Jennifer Njoroge.

According to the party list, Wakairu, aged 30 years, could join the assembly to represent the youth, a marginalised political group.

For years, Wakairu, who is popularly known as Bragga, has doubled down on his political aspirations by engaging the youth in the country through various projects.

In 2016, he founded a youth group known as Vijana Amkeni in 2016 which is a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) that empowers youth across the country.

The organisation prides itself in empowering them politically, socially and economically while also working towards a sustainable environment

"I saw the need to begin a movement that brings youth together to voice issues and be involved in national affairs. We use social media to mobilise each other," he noted in a 2019 interview.

Since 2017, Wakairu has also maintained a close relationship with Jubilee Party insiders among them Johnson Sakaja who later joined Kenya Kwanza and is now vying for the city's gubernatorial seat.

In 2018, he accompanied Sakaja, who served as Nairobi County Senate, to the launch of the State of The Youth Report.

The organisation also mentors the youth on health and mental well-being, a cause he took up after seeing the rising suicide cases rose in Kenya.

Murathe's son serves as the President of an NGO dubbed Davidson Wakairu Gatuhi (DWG) Holdings and DWG Wines, companies that market and promote wines.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Advertising from Marbella International University Centre in Spain.

As part of preserving the environment, his NGO planted 250,000 trees in various counties in Kenya and were striving to plant 47,000,000 trees in Kenya by 2022.
