On Friday, July 8, a six-wheeled truck furnished with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party colours excited many Kenyans online over the customised features of the vehicle.

The truck, which was modified with campaign messages for Kenya Kwanza, was handed to the coalition's presidential candidate, Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the August 9 poll.

The tycoon behind the multi-million campaign vehicle is Patrick Nderitu, the Managing Director of Pimp my Ride.

Speaking recently to the media, Nderitu affirmed that the preparation and modification process took almost a year for the exterior look to be furnished in high quality.

"The whole preparation for the vehicle took one year. That was when it was completed and everyone started talking about it. We had to plan it in advance so that the end result can be of high quality," he told Standard Digital.

Nderitu noted that he doted the vehicle to Ruto's campaign team because he felt the need for DP to boost his bid in the final days leading to the General Election.

"I donated the vehicle to the Deputy President unconditionally because I felt he needs it in the final stretch of his campaigns," he stated.

He affirmed that the vehicle cost an average of Ksh80 million and Ksh100 million.

Among the unique features of the vehicle include automated doors which are hinged at the rear than at the front.

The truck also has two sunroofs, a fridge, a VIP protection area as well charging ports. Nderitu noted that the vehicle can clock in at a speed of 200 kilometres per hour.

The businessman was in the past, embroiled in a court battle with former Nairobi Mike Sonko over disputed properties in Nairobi estates.
