Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, has issued conditions to be met for him to attend an event organised by the Kenya Kwanza coalition's presidential running mate, Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking to Kameme FM on Wednesday, August 3, Kibicho pointed out that the Kenya Kwanza team ought to save a seat for him at the rally and promise not to hurl insults towards him during the entire event.

Kibicho was responding to claims of bias shown by a section of Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries who have been accused of attending events organised by a section of politicians.

"I received a phone call from Martha Karua to attend her event held in Kirinyaga on Monday, August 1.

"If Gachagua called to invite me to an event, I would go because I have a responsibility as a Kenyan to associate with all. This is a challenge that I am issuing to them to invite me for a rally but as long as they promise to reserve a seat and not to hurl insults at me, I will go, "Kibicho assured.

He added that if given a chance to address the crowd at the rally, he would advocate for the public to select leaders based on their characters.

"When given a chance to speak, I would go and educate the public about the characteristics to look for in a leader. If people don't want to associate you, hence you can't associate with them."

The Interior PS also accused Deputy President William Ruto of doublespeak on matters mitumba that had elicited mixed reactions over the recent weeks.

"There are things that you can't lie about as a politician. You can't say one time that you advocate for mitumba and after a while support the textile industry.

"These days you find when some of these politicians take to the podium to speak, nine out of ten things they talk about are lies.

"Most politicians think that when they take the microphone and speak to the crowd, that it is the will of the people to have them in power," Kibicho affirmed.

As the clock ticks and the August 9 polls draw closer, politicians are racing against time to solidify their support across the 47 counties.
