"Sports is a powerful tool to promote peace, It brings people together from all parts of the world despite their culture, race and religion. It teaches us the value of good sportsmanship, teamwork and respect which builds social cohesion amongst individuals," he stated.

As a Kenya International and a WPSSD ambassador, I am proud to support World Peace School Sports Day in spreading the peace message and creating opportunities for better healthier lives across the world," he added after landing the role.

According to World Peace School Sports Day, Musonye's appointment had been backed by Kenya Rugby Union.

"Our aim is to empower young people to use sport and physical activity to reaffirm international values of peace and friendship. By paying a Pound a Euro or a Dollar to take part they will be raising money to help those suffering in the midst of war.

In coming years, we will continue to promote these values and fundraise for those in conflict globally," the international organisation explained.

The former Strathmore Leos forward was among the players that represented the country in the Hong Kong Cup of Nations in 2017.

After a long stint with the rugby national team, the former Kakamega High School alumni retired.
