  • Former Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) Secretary General, Philipe Sadjah, now claims that his life is in danger after unknown assailants burnt down his car.

Sadjah, on Friday, August 5, reported that unidentified persons stormed his residence in Machakos county on the night of Thursday, August 4, under the guise of Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers and committed the heinous act.

The persons reportedly ordered Sadjah to open his house’s door, claiming that they had been sent to investigate some matter.

He, however, questioned the authenticity of their claim and why they choose night hours to raid his house. His refusal to allow them in prompted the assailants to set his car on fire.

“If I have done something wrong, I should be called to the DCI or OCS to record a statement and not send people claiming to be DCI officers at night,” Sadjah told Citizen TV

He further claimed that the unidentified attackers were after his life due to his political stance.

According to the former CCU politician, the arson attack is a result of his political affiliations in the recent past. He cited his recent defection to the Wiper Party on July 27 as the reason behind the frustrations of the attackers.

“It is very unfortunate that politics in this country has reached these heights. Last week I withdrew my support from my candidate, Nzioka Waita, to another within Azimio, Wavinya Ndeti of Wiper," remarked Sadjah.

Sadjah's defection dealt a blow to Nzioka Waita, the CCU candidate in the Machakos gubernatorial race.

Wavinya welcomed him and together with the deputy governor of Machakos county, Francis Muliti, who also decamped from Maendeleo Chap Chap party.

Police officers have since launched a probe into the matter to ascertain the identity of the perpetrators as well as their motive.

The authorities have also established that nobody was injured during the Thursday night attack.
