Flamboyant city lawyer and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for the Westlands parliamentary seat, Nelson Havi, has conceded defeat to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party candidate and incumbent Member of Parliament, Tim Wanyonyi.

In a statement dated Wednesday, August 10, Havi admitted that his support in the constituency did not match Wanyonyi's.

While sending a cryptic message to the electorate, he acknowledged that he accepted their decision. He also congratulated his rival on his re-election.

"Well done Team Havi. We are the minority in the contest for Westlands. The majority chose Timothy Wanyonyi. They duly deserve him in their wisdom or lack of it.

"On our part, we are contented with the outcome. Congratulations to you my elder brother, Tim Wanyonyi. Serve well," Havi stated.

Meanwhile, Nandi Hills Member of Parliament, Alfred Keter, lost his seat to UDA's Bernard Kibor.

Kibor was declared the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's (IEBC) Constituency Returning Officer.

Keter garnered 18,037 votes against Kibor's 23,503. Speaking at the constituency tallying centre, Kibor lauded his predecessor for his work and promised a different kind of leadership.

"We must appreciate Keter for the work that he has done for the last 10 years, but there is a change of leadership. We are going to have a harmonious relationship between the leaders at the county and national government," Kibor stated in his victory speech.

In days leading to the election, the outgoing lawmaker had his nomination ticket recalled by UDA, forcing him to run as an independent candidate.

The decision came after the Legislator rattled top party officials, with Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi referring to him as an Azimio mole.

In Keyio North Constituency, UDA candidate, Adams Kipsanai, was declared MP-elect after beating incumbent James Murgor.

Following the release of provisional results, a number of candidates have come out to concede defeat.
