Provisional results from Kangundo constituency Machakos county indicated that Raila Odinga of was ahead with 29, 808 votes representing 77 per cent of the total 38,671 votes.
Deputy President William Ruto managed 8,405 votes in the area representing 21.7 per cent.
UDA Chairman Johnson Muthama served as the Member of Parliament for Kangundo constituency from 2007 to 2013 and served as the first Machakos county Senator from 2013-2017.
The vocal Ruto ally failed to mobilize and deliver the votes from his constituency in the August 9 polls despite being seen as a Kenya Kwanza point man in Ukambani.
60,796 people turned up to vote from all the polling stations, with 330 votes having been rejected. The other presidential candidates Waihiga Mwaure of Agano Party and George Wajackoyah of Roots Party got 93 and 365 votes respectively.
Muthama had previously exuded confidence stating that any team he joins never loses. The politician expressed confidence in the victory of William Ruto as Kenya's fifth president.
The former senator reiterated that Ruto had contributed to the wins of former politicians including Raila Odinga during the 2007 coalition with the late President Mwai Kibaki. He also maintained that UDA was popular in Ukambani.
"UDA is strong in Ukambani. From the recent polls, Wiper Party was at 23 per cent while UDA was at 33 per cent and ODM was at 9.5 per cent," he added.
Muthama and outgoing Machakos governor Alfred Mutua have not seen eye to eye for long, with the ex-senator challenging the county boss to apologize for poor poor leadership.
Dr Mutua endorsed Wavinya Ndeti of Wiper for the Machakos governor seat, in the presence of Ruto, days to the polls, signalling their bad blood with the former Senator.
The renowned politician also changed his name in May from Johnson Nduya Muthama to Johnson Nduya Muthama Kiamba.
The Machakos gubernatorial morphed into a battleground, after former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita joined the race, complicating the Amizio matrix.
Efforts to have Wavinya or Nzioka withdraw to avert sibling rivalry within the Azimio camp failed.
