Update: Azimio coalition will now control the August House after managing to garner 163 seats against Ruto's 162.

This is after the by-election results announced by IEBC on Tuesday, August 30.

Both the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza coalitions have claimed to have clinched the highest number of seats at various elective levels in the just concluded elections.

During the Azimio One Kenya elected leaders meeting at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, held on Saturday, August 13, the coalition's presidential running mate, Martha Karua, exuded confidence in the number of elective seats within their control.

She stated that Azimio had surpassed Kenya Kwanza having bagged 180 Members of Parliament as opposed to Kenya Kwanza's 130.

"For all of you, because you are in Nairobi, we need to distribute ourselves to where our places where we are needed in order to guard our win, because we have won. I was looking at the list of MPs, I am very attempted to read our names, but we are just short of 180 when you combine. We have 24 governors at the moment. If you add Mombasa and Kakamega whose by-election is coming later, you will see we have strength around the country," Karua stated.

"If you look at our competition, they are just at about 130 MPs when I last counted. Even if it improves, it will not come anywhere to what we have. For senators, we have 23 and they have one up (24)."

The Kenya Kwanza coalition, however, disputed the figures noting that they had surpassed their rivals in the battle for supremacy.

"In UDA, we have 130 and if you add the whole team, we have about a rough figure of 170 MPs," Kapeseret MP-elect, Oscar Sudi, stated in a rebuttal.

A spot-check by Kenyans.co.ke as of Saturday, August 13, 6:30 pm, UDA had 116 MPs-elect, followed by ODM with 75, Jubilee 23, Wiper 19, independents 8, Ford Kenya 5, ANC 6, DAP-K 5, KANU 5, UDM 6, PAA 3, Maendeleo Chap Chap 2 and The Service Party of Kenya 1.
