Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's Cheif Agent, Saitabao Kanchori, now claims that the system used by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was compromised.

Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, August 15, Kanchori claimed that they had received intelligence that the system had been infiltrated by unknown persons.

"We have intelligence reports that the IEBC system was penetrated and hacked and that some of the IEBC officials had actually committed intellectual offences and some of them ought to be arrested.

"We were not in any position to ask our party leader to come before we actually verify results, which we have not done," Kanchory stated.

A number of media houses who were covering the presser muted the live feed owing to some of the allegations he had labelled against the commission.

Kanchory was accompanied by, among others, Siaya Governor-elect James Orengo, Kisumu governor-elect Anyang' Nyong'o and Rarieda MP-elect, Otiendo Amollo, who all declined to give a comment.

IEBC announced that it would announce the results of the Presidential election by 3 p.m but as of 5 p.m, the presidential returning officer Wafula Chebukati was yet to be seen.

UDA candidate and outgoing Deputy President William Ruto had already arrived at the Bomas of Kenya in the company of his political allies and some of the elected leaders under the Kenya Kwanza umbrella.

The process was embroiled in a scuffle as a section of politicians assaulted Chebukati at Bomas of Kenya.

However, Chebukati announced William Samoei Ruto as the president-elect

He announced that Ruto garnered 7,176,141 votes. This was 50.49 per cent of the total votes cast. His closest rival Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga got 6,942,930 which is 48.88 per cent of the total votes cast.

Meanwhile, four IEBC commissioners disowned the presidential results. These were Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, and three other commissioners, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyangaya, and Irene Masit.

"We are not at the Bomas of Kenya because we cannot take ownership of the results that are going to be announced because of the opaque nature in which these results have been handled," Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera alleged.
