At least 26 governors were on Thursday, August 25 sworn-in after they were declared winners in the just concluded elections.
However, residents of Mombasa and Kakamega counties will have to wait longer before they get new governors after the polls were suspended by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC.
From Nairobi to Isiolo, Kajiado to Bungoma the events were characterized by pomp and colour as regional leaders took oath of office.
The new leaders arrived for the ceremony in style. While others chose vintage cars signifying class, some were chauffeured in top of the range Germany machines, ahead of their inauguration.

Nairobi Governor
Johnson Sakaja took his oath of office at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre -KICC, becoming Nairobi's fourth governor. Deputy President William Ruto, outgoing governor Anne Kananu and NMS boss Mohamed Badi were among the dignitaries who graced the event.
Sakaja served as Nairobi County senator for two terms before beating Azimio's Polycarp Igathe in the August 9 gubernatorial contest.
Kirinyaga County
Anne Mumbi Waiguru took oath to serve her second and final term as Kirinyaga governor. She was in the company of her husband, renowned lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.
Waiguru is a former devolution Cabinet Secretary. In 2017 she vied on Jubilee party before joining UDA in the run up to the August 9 polls. She beat her closest competitor Wangui Ngirici.
Nyeri County
Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga took oath of office in the presence of Deputy president-elect Rigathi Gachagua who graced the event.
Kahiga took office after the death of Governor Wahome Gakuru. In 2022 he vied for the gubernatorial seat on a UDA ticket defeating Senator Ephraim Maina.
Kiambu County
Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi served as the the senator of Kiambu County prior to being elected as the Governor.
He vied for the senatorial position in 2017 on a jubilee ticket, before joining UDA. He defeated Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria, the outgoing governor Dr James Nyoro, pioneer governor William Kabogo and former MP Patrick Wainaina.
Kisii County
Former Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati took over from James Ongwae who served for two terms.
He started his political career in 2007, when he contested for the position of councilor which he lost. He, however, became the Nairobi City Council nominated councilor until 2012.
In 2013, he was elected as the Dagoretti North MP on an ODM ticket and successfully defended the seat in 2017.
Arati floored political veterans including Prof Sam Ongeri of DAP and UDA's Ezekiel Machogu.
Nandi County
Stephen Sang was sworn in for a second time as the Governor of Nandi County.
He made headlines when he beat some seasoned politicians to clinch the Nandi gubernatorial sit at a tender age of 32 in 2017, making him the youngest governor in Kenya.
In 2022 he vied on UDA, defeating his main competitor Christopher Lagat.
