In a bid to challenge Gladys Wanga's win in the Homabay Gubernatorial elections, former Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero, wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to produce the GPRS of each KIEMS kit used in the elections.
Kidero wants to know the location of each KIEMS kit between August 8 and August 11, this is before the election day and when Gladys Wanga was declared as governor-elect.
In a letter by his lawyer, Okwe Achiando, addressed to the Commission's CEO, Marjan Hussein Marjan, Kidero want the Commission to provide the election materials within seven days.
“Kindly take not that we expect our client to receive the documents within seven days to enable him actualise and realise his constitutional rights as enshrined in the Constitution,” the letter read in part.
The content of the letter dated Monday, August 22, seeks to nullify Wanga's win in the election. Kidero had poked holes in the way the gubernatorial election was conducted.
Other election materials Kidero is seeking include poll diaries from all polling stations, copies of manual registers used, and the total count of voters identified both manually and electronically.
Kidero added that through all the election materials, his team will compile a strong petition against Wanga at the High Court.
The politician has stayed true to his words to challenge the election after Wanga was declared the gubernatorial contest winner. He earlier accused Wanga of defying the people's will.
"Some Presiding Officers and Returning Officers denied our agents access in some voting halls and in the counting halls," Kidero stated earlier.
The former Woman Representative on an ODM party ticket garnered 244,559 votes against Kidero's 154,182 votes.
Wanga was recently sworn into office on Thursday, August 25 alongside her deputy governor, Oyugi Magwanga.
She has vowed to reinvigorate the county development and restore its former glory.
