A showdown is looming in Isiolo after the County's Secretary Ahmed Galgalo defied newly-elected Governor Abdi Guyo's executive order.

While addressing the press on Tuesday, August 30, Galgalo maintained that he would not leave office until his contract ends in November 2022.

Guyo, who was sworn in on August 25, issued an executive order directing the firing of the County Secretary as part of the executive's re-organisation.

Galgalo, however, maintains that he will stay put since he was yet to be furnished with a dismissal letter from the Governor's office.

He demanded that he needed a detailed explanation on why he was being hounded from the office.

"I have never seen anyone being sacked through an executive order. He must use the law and serve me with a contract termination letter with reasons for the dismissal,” he lamented.

He also argued that he was fired for inviting some of Guyo's opponents to the swearing in part - a development that the new Governor was not ecstatic about.

“I am not interested in going beyond my contract term but this is not the right way to sack me even if he does not like me,” added Galgalo.

On August 26, Guyo also issued a stern warning to doctors and healthcare workers attached to the county's healthcare and hospitals after he made an impromptu visit to Isiolo County Referral Hospital.

He was, at the time, surprised to find that most of the doctors were not at their places of work during normal working hours.

He made the visit at night and was shocked to find that there were no doctors on duty while the pharmacy was closed.

Guyo served as Nairobi County Majority Leader, representing Matopeni Ward, before vying for the Isiolo gubernatorial seat.
