Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote on Tuesday, September 13, joined Presidents, heads of governments and other dignitaries at the Kasarani Stadium for the inauguration of President-elect William Ruto.

Dangote arrived at the stadium in the mid-morning hours dressed in a dapper black suit with white shirt and a red-tie and secured a sitting position behind Kenya's Chief Justice Martha Koome.

He was at the event's dais alongside other dignitaries, mostly VIPS from other countries including a delegation drawn from the United States.

According to Forbes Magazine, Dangote's net worth is estimated at USD12.7 billion dollars (Ksh1.5 trillion) effectively placing him as the 67th richest person worldwide.

He made his fortune majorly in the construction industry with his company located in the West African country of Nigeria.

In the early 2010s, Dangote had set his eyes towards investing in Kenya but withdrew the plans decrying widespread corruption among the Government's elite.

The billionaire told renowned Kenyan journalist Jeff Koinange in 2018 that mega corruption in the country had dissuaded him from pursuing his plan to invest.

"I asked him, ‘Alhaji when are you coming back to Kenya?’ and he said ‘Jeff, there are people in that place (Kenya) who put greed and personal interest ahead of national interest.

I didn’t think Kenya would be more corrupt than Nigeria," Koinange quoted Dangote during his morning show at Hot 96.
