Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni lit up the Kasarani stadium after recounting how he watched KTN News' Kivumbi show during the August 9 electioneering period.

While speaking during Ruto's inauguration ceremony, Museveni noted that the show captured his attention due to the topic of discussion; politics of identity versus the politics of interest and issues.

He added that the panelists discussed key issues regarding the creation and distribution of resources in the country.

Museveni was, however, interrupted by the crowd who chanted toboa, as he was narrating the experience. "Don't involve me in your internal affairs, I just want to observe a few things," he retorted.

The Ugandan Head of State advised president Ruto's administration to focus on wealth creation which will subsequently lead to the creation of resources.

"In this Kivumbi 2022, most of the time, they were talking mainly about sharing power and sharing resources.

"There was one young man who made a good point that the administration should focus on the distribution of resources. I said these young people have valid points.

"The other panelist prompted a question; you're talking about distributing resources, where are we getting these resources? Where does prosperity come from?

"According to my experience of 60 years, I'd advise that prosperity comes from wealth creation and it is not the same as natural resources. Wealth means agriculture, manufacturing, service industries and ICT," Museveni advised.

He, however, poked holes in the sketchiness of discussions on the Kivumbi show as it did not incorporate an East African point of view.

"What I found the problem in the Kivumbi show was that they did not discuss East African integration., just focused on Kenya."

"One of them quoted an example of former American president Roosevelt who began a program in 1934 which created multiple jobs. But Roosevelt was utlising the huge market of the United States which had been created by some people who had a vision," he opined.

He proceeded to congratulate Ruto's administration for clinching the presidency in the August 9 poll.

"I congratulate Ruto and thank Uhuru on behalf of the presidents in attendance. For the East African countries to catch up with the USA, we need to look at the regional markets," he noted.
