"As a Christian, I take this opportunity to thank my wife Dorcas. Pastor Dorcas was a prayer warrior and was always praying for me in difficult moments. Thank you for standing by me," he stated.

Additionally, he thanked his two sons for helping him overcome the threats and intimidation he face even as he advised Kenyans to protect their families.

The DP noted that the family unit was the most important part of life adding that family cannot betray you as friends would do.

"I also want to thank my son Kevin Gachagua and doctor Keith. Even when state agencies came for me, you stood by me. I will cherish you for standing with us

"Please take care of your family because those are the only people you can rely on. Close friends abandoned us. The business associated betrayed us but family will always be there," Gachagua stated.

The DP was making reference to alleged intimidation that was meted on Kenya Kwanza leaders specifically those who were closely associated with Ruto.

Gachagua was making his inaugural speech before he invited President William Ruto to address the nation as he reiterated that their administration would not use the government to intimidate those opposed to their policies.

During the campaigns prior to the August 9 polls, Kenya Kwanza accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration of using state agencies to influence the outcome of the August 9 polls.

Notably, during his speech after the Supreme Court upheld his win, Ruto thanked his allies for sticking by him and helping him clinch the August 9 polls.
