Kenyans have been cautioned against a weight loss advertising scam scheme targeting Citizen Tv journalist, Willis Raburu.
In a statement, on September 16, the 10 over 10 show host exposed that various companies had taken advantage of his weight loss journey to market their products on social media platforms.
He noted that the entities were selling various weight loss products on the pretext that the Citizen Tv journalist had endorsed them.
Consequently, Raburu advised Kenyans to disregard the malicious advertisements.
"These malicious and immoral pages and people have decided to use my pictures to unlawfully and unjustly promote their rudimentary, fickle and fraudulent products! They have done this without my express permission and are in violation of so many rights and laws.
Raburu expressed concern about how Kenyans were putting their lives in harm's way, noting that weight loss is a detailed issue that needs to be approached with the right approach.
Further, the news anchor opened up on his own journey revealing that he undertook a high-risk surgery to lose weight.
"Do not fall for this scam! These are glib and frivolous attempts to try and dupe very honest Kenyans. Weight loss is a serious issue and should not be treated with such disdain. Ignore these adverts"
"It is well documented that I did a gastric bypass surgery. I remain available for advice best I can and if I don’t I’ll point you in the right direction," he stated.
In August, the Citizen Tv anchor recounted that he was treated at a Nairobi-based hospital.
At the time, Raburu revealed to Citizen Tv that he was weighing 164 kilograms.
