Eldoret residents were astounded after a 37-year-old man gifted his family land to President William Ruto to congratulate him for ascending to power.

Kimutai Choge, a motivational speaker, even caught his relatives by surprise after handing over the title deed of the said land to local authorities to complete the transfer and register it under Ruto's name.

Speaking on Monday, September 19, Kimutai urged the head of state to set up a youth empowerment and resource centre titled Dr William Ruto Empowerment Academy and Resource Centre.

The half-acre prime plot, located on the Eldoret-Kapsabet highway in Nandi county, sits a few kilometres from Koitalel Samoei University College near Mosoriot and about 300 metres from the main road.

"The best way to celebrate President Ruto’s victory is to give out my family land for the construction of a youth training centre to nurture talent and inspire discouraged youths and mentor those struggling with drug abuse," he stated.

Kimutai envisioned the centre as an excellent and rehabilitation facility able capable of training over 400 youths across the country.

The establishment of the centre, he added, would cut the cost of hiring halls and social halls for youths convening different empowerment meetings.

Local leaders and Kalenjin elders lauded Kimutai for his donation and pledged to support the project to fruition.

Following the donation, Emgwen National Government Constituency Development Fund, led by Henry Rono, began lobbying for dialogue with the president.

The residents argued that the establishment of the project will mark the start of Ruto's legacy in the country

Ruto, who is set to attend the UN General Conference in Washington DC, has not yet issued a statement regarding the donation.

If established, the centre will empower the community, joining a list of vocal leaders running similar initiatives.
