The Nairobi County Assembly speaker's race is turning out to be the mother of battles, attracting a wide pool of candidates.

With the election slated for Wednesday, September 21, Gospel DJ Rimshot Jackson threw his hat into the ring.

“In my career, I have been engaged in leadership roles, motivational speaking, marketing, branding, content creation, photo manipulation, and illustrations which have been very pivotal in sharpening my leadership skills, communication, and teamwork which are important in holding leadership positions hence my interest in being the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker,” the DJ stated.

Inspired by President William Ruto who rose from a simple chicken seller to the Head of State, Jackson seeks to rise from street boy to the Nairobi County Assembly.

Jackson will face off ODM's Ken Ngondi, Wiper Party's Julius Mawathe, and Jubilee Party's Harrison Wangor among other aspirants.

Previously, the DJ, served as Nairobi City Coordinator for Young Aspirants Kenya in 2021.

Additionally, the entertainer has also worked at Kass TV as a marketing executive. He has vast knowledge in Sales Marketing and graphic design inclusive of video and audio production.

In the August 9 General Elections, he had unsuccessfully vied for the Central ward Member of County Assembly position in Nairobi as an independent candidate.

He lost the bid to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party's Mwaniki Kenya.

If he clinches the seat, Jackson will join a list of other entertainers who took the risk and plunged into the murky world of politics.

Notably, Felix Odiwour alas Jalang'o, a former radio host, who vied on an ODM ticket, won the Lang'ata parliamentary seat, edging out Nixon Korir of UDA.

However, City Hall politics is not for the faint-hearted. President William Ruto and governor Johnson Sakaja are keen to control the Assembly, for easy execution of Kenya Kwanza manifesto.

Earlier in the day, a section of MCAs accused Sakaja of employing delay tactics that led to the postponement of their swearing-in.

The MCAs ruled out negotiating with the executive to influence House leadership.
