President William Ruto flew with his close allies on his maiden trip to the US as Kenya's fifth head of state.

The President is set to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) conference at 9 pm on Wednesday, September 21.

Unlike other heads of state who were accompanied by government officials, Ruto opted for his point men as he is yet to announce his Cabinet.

Among those who accompanied Ruto were his wife Mama Rachel Ruto, Elgeyo Marakwet senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro, former Foreign Affairs CAS Ababu Namwamba, former Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua, and economist David Ndii.

The five politicians and technocrats indicated that they accompanied the head of state to perform various roles on the US trip.

In a statement by Ndii on Tuesday, September 20, the economist was tasked with meeting investors and officials from the US government during the conference.

"I’m not here for UNGA. I’m here to engage financiers and investors. We are actually having this conversation with the US government today (September 20)," he stated.

On the other hand, Murkomen and Mutua attended the UN event where Ruto is set to make his maiden speech

Also in their company was Ambassador Martin Kimani - Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the UN and MP Ndindi Nyoro.

"Kenya is a committed member of the global community of nations. We share a strong interest in the preservation of peace, prosperity and dignity for all people and the protection of our planet and its resources," Ruto stated.

The President is yet to name members of his cabinet with reports indicating that some members of his inner circle - who accompanied him to the US - will be rewarded with key positions.

Namwamba - was fronted for a role in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Notably, he was the Head of International Relations in the WSR Presidential Campaign Secretariat.

Kenya Kwanza's decision to also leave out Murkomen from the Senate House leadership also saw him mentioned among leaders likely to feature in Ruto's Cabinet along with Mutua and Ndii.

Nyoro on the other hand will be Ruto's confidant handling government affairs in Parliament. The two enjoy a close relationship with Nyoro, at one point, considered for the running mate position.
