President William Ruto, on Thursday, September 29, addressed a joint sitting of Parliament, with members of both the Senate and National Assembly present. 

Following Standing Order 25 (2), Speakers of the Houses of Parliament notified members of the opening of the 13th Parliament on Thursday, September 29. 

The president inspected the guard of honour- his first since assuming office in September- before proceeding to Parliament.

Among the issues that the Head of State is expected to address include issuing the way forward on graft, high cost of living, and fast-tracking the approval of Cabinet Secretaries nominees among others.
