Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament (MP), Ngunjiri Wambugu, secured a job for a woman who had tarmacked for 11 years.

Wambugu handed the employment letter to the woman on Tuesday, October 4 after tracking her down for nearly two months.

The husband disrupted his campaign rally prior to the August 9 polls and asked the former lawmaker to intervene and save his wife.

He reportedly sneaked past Wambugu's security detail to explain the plight of his wife who was jobless, despite having the requisite qualifications and documents.

"During the heat of the campaigns, this gentleman threaded his way through my team when I stopped at their village. He literally climbed up the car to speak to me as I was speaking from the roof.

"He asked me to get his wife a job and that she had the right papers. I promised to do whatever I could," Wambugu wrote.

After the dust settled and despite losing the seat, the former lawmaker followed up on the matter and sent a team to get her academic documents. He then physically went to deliver the employment later, fulfiling the promise he made.

"I am happy to have been able to help her. I met her for the first time when handing her the employment letter, and the joy on her face and her husband's was worth the effort," he added.

The husband broke into tears and expressed gratitude towards Wambugu. However, the ex-MP did not disclose details of the job he secured for her.

Kenyans lauded the ex-legislator for his noble actions, explaining that the majority of those who lost their seats had turned their backs on the residents.

"It's not about what you are but who you are. Your humanity for those of us who know you is amazing. The Lord will walk with you wherever you go," one Charity Migwi remarked.

On August 19, former Kesses MP Swarup Mishra clarified claims that he had withdrawn sponsorship of up to 300 students in the constituency to punish the electorate for not voting for him.

Mishra dismissed the claims as unfounded, maintaining that he would still lend a financial hand to the students who were reporting back to school after the mid-term break.
