The cause of the accident and the number of fatalities had been established by the time this article was established.

Elsewhere, a fire engine belonging to Baringo County was involved in an accident while responding to a fire incident.

The fire engine was headed to Ayiebo Boys High School. However, the engine overturned at the Kona Baya junction in Ossen.

The Wednesday accident adds to the long list of road fatalities recorded across the country since January.

According to a report released by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), in September- there were over 3,000 reported fatalities on Kenyan roads since the start of the year.

The number of fatalities, according to NTSA, is an increase from those reported in the same period in 2021.

In June, the NTSA resolved to introduce the Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS) in a move to combat the high number of accidents in Kenya.

According to the safety body- the system would help police officers in collecting information about traffic offences and subsequently take action on them.

The system would focus on- among other aspects- the introduction of digital speed governors and authentication of documents and such as driving licenses.
