Former President Uhuru Kenyatta made his first public appearance on October 7, weeks after handing over power to William Ruto on September 13, 2022.
Photos of Uhuru were shared by 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) president, Alok Sharma.
The COP26 boss indicated climate change formed the main basis of his conversation with Uhuru.
In the meeting, Sharma praised Kenya's special envoy for his role in rallying countries worldwide to mitigate the effects of climate change.
"Great to speak to President Uhuru Kenyatta - Global Center on Adaptation Global Champion for Africa Adaptation. We discussed the urgent need for countries to implement #COP26 adaptation finance commitments.
"I look forward to working together to strengthen resilience in climate vulnerable countries," he stated.
Despite sharing images of Uhuru after the meeting, Sharma did not divulge the location or more details of the meeting.
The duo met after the COP26 president held similar talks with President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
Uhuru has maintained a low profile after handing over the instruments of power to his successor at the Kasarani Stadium.
The former head of state missed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's thanksgiving event held on October 1, with reports indicating that he had returned to the country after a vacation abroad.
Uhuru was also expected to jet out to South Africa for peace talks between warring factions in Ethiopia. However, he pulled out of the negotiations at the last minute.
"I would be grateful to receive clarity on the structure and modalities of the talks, including but not limited to the rules of engagement for all the interlocutors invited,” Uhuru stated and further explained that he had a conflicting schedule.
