Capital FM's photojournalist Francis Mbatha has announced his exit from the media house after eight years and six months.

Mbatha who broke the news on his Facebook page was emotional as his time at the renowned media house came to an end.

"8 years 6 months, Capital FM Kenya was family, friend, mkate (bread) for me and my family. It's taken me almost a week and a half to find the strength to say bye. I love you fam, forever," he shared on Facebook.

Mbatha recounted his time at Capital FM and went on to appreciate his colleagues as he wished them the best.

"Guys, I promise I won't miss you, because I'll see you almost daily. Expect a TBT photo from me once in a while. I love you guys, peace out," he stated.

Notably, the journalist was overwhelmed by the role the late Chris Kirubi, owner of the media house, played in his career.

"My boss Chris Kirubi nicknamed DJ CK, business extraordinaire. Almost like my grandfather, he would slump into the seat next to mine and ask, "Young man, what are you doing to make me money today?" the journalist recounted.

According to Mbatha, the common phrase from the business mogul was a chance for him to show off his skills and impress the boss.

Through the media house, Mbatha noted he had a chance to meet reputable people in Kenya for producing original and factual news.

"I have mostly been behind the scenes of the limelight, but I will thank you for interviewing ObamainKenya with Olive Kalekye and James Mugo, my highest career point," Mbatha recounted.

Mbatha further attributed documentaries, features, online television commercials (TVCs), and television commercials to the immense success of the digital team at Capital.

His exit comes weeks after a presenter, James Wokabi, from the same media house quit.

Wokabi, who was poached by Nation Media Group, had worked at the station for 18 years. He made the announcement on Sunday, September 25 as he hosted the Football Sunday mix.
