Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made his maiden foreign trip to Rwanda on October 13 on board a Kenya Airforce plane.
Notably, this was the same plane he used while travelling to Kisumu for the national music festival in September 2022.
The military aircraft, with registration number KAF 304, is a De Havilland Canada Dash 8-103 series plane.
Its production dates back to the 80s, with the first dash 8-100 plane making its first flight in 1983.
Various aeroplane sites estimate the price of the military aircraft at Ksh300 million.
KAF 304 is 22 meters long with a maximum weight capacity of 15648 kilograms.
Additionally, the plane famed for its long tail is 25.89 meters wide - inclusive of the wings and is 7.5 meters high.
The plane is mostly meant to ferry passengers and has the capacity to carry a maximum of 37 people. However, the manufacturers provide room for modification to allow room for more storage.
"The De Havilland Aircraft Company of Canada DHC-8 or 'Dash 8' is a twin-turboprop regional transport passenger aircraft which places its design concept on high performance and low operating costs.
"Its twin-engine configuration brings very economic maintenance," aerospace company BAE Systems reviewed on their website.
"KAF 304 can also attain a cruise speed of 498 kilometres per hour," BAE adds. BAE is a British multinational arm, security, and aerospace company.
Gachagua, while inside the plane, is also assured of his safety as the aircraft cannot be tracked while on air due to security reasons.
