The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has announced a free air show festival for Kenyans scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 28.
In a statement on Monday, May 23, KDF announced that the air festival will take place at the newly renovated Uhuru Gardens from 8:00am.
The disciplined forces stated the that festival will incorporate drills that are showcased by the Kenya Airforce during national holidays.
Kenyans were urged to arrive at the venue on time as the air force showcases their talent in the air.
"The Kenya Defence Forces in conjunction with Aero Club will hold an exciting Museum Air Show Festival this Saturday, 28th May 2022 at Uhuru Gardens along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi.
"Led by Kenya Air Force, we will boast displays of both military and civilian aerobatic capabilities aimed at engaging and entertaining the public," read the KDF statement in part.
Additionally, KDF has partnered with other government agencies to showcase their training in the air.
During the event, some of the prolific fighter jets for the disciplined forces will be showcased ahead of the Madaraka Day celebrations that will take place at the same venue on Wednesday, June 1.
"You are all invited to witness this spectacular show of scintillating aerobatics by Kenya Air Force jets and extreme maneuvers by a variety of helicopters in their inventory. The Kenya Wildlife Services will also display anti-poaching drills.
"Other participants will include: Phoenix Aviation Cessna Sovereign, Kenya Airways Embraer 190 fly-past, Farmland Aviation firefighting display and aerobatics by Mark Hensman from South Africa among others," KDF stated.
Over the years, KDF has showcased some of their weaponry during the air shows staged at national celebrations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to lead the country in marking the Madaraka Day celebrations next week with over 30,000 people expected to attend the event at Uhuru Gardens.
