The burial of former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut is set to be delayed for a few days after the wife, and her in-laws differed on the funeral arrangement.

The wife, who filed an application at the Milimani Law Courts, wants the burial slated for October 18 temporarily halted to address their fallout.

She accused the late lawmaker's siblings of plotting to disinherit her by sidelining her in the burial arrangements

"That having locked out the applicant from the burial arrangements of her late husband, the applicant has a well-founded apprehension that if the deceased is buried without involving her, her children and herself will not be able to give him a befitting send-off due to the current hostility," she complained to the court through her lawyer.

The mother of two argued that she was legally married to the lawmaker for 24 years after officially taking their vows in 1998.

She expressed fear that the conniving in-laws may lock her children out of their father's inheritance.

In her affidavit, she added that she was also afraid of losing the deceased's estate.

The Milimani Law Court is expected to issue a verdict regarding the matter to allow the former legislator to be laid to rest.

The former Ainabkoi MP was pronounced dead on Saturday, October 8. Before his demise, he had complained of a swollen leg, an injury that was traced to an incident a year ago.

Doctors at a city hospital struggled to resuscitate the former MP since he showed no signs of a heart attack.

"We received the patient, Hon. William Chepkut, at 8:20am. We examined him, but we did not find any signs of heartbeat or breath," the doctor stated,

"We, thereafter, embarked on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but, unfortunately, we could not resuscitate him. The attempts to revive his heartbeat or respiration failed," he added.
