Kenya has continued to stake its claim in the world of global tourism after Kilimani estate, Nairobi county was ranked among the world's coolest neighbourhoods.
In the latest rankings of TimeOut, Kilimani emerged as the top estate in Africa and was placed in the 28th position worldwide, out of a list of 51 entries.
The estate was also praised for its vibrant culture and how the night essentially roars to life with the party with several clubs, bars and restaurants.
"This is where “Nairobi goes to party. (Kilimani) is bursting with a vibrant arts and entertainment vibe," read part of the survey by TimeOut.
The list factored different areas such as accessibility, cutting-edge culture and nightlife; brilliant and affordable food and drink; lively street life; and big community vibes.
Sea Point in Cape Town was the second African neighbourhood to make it to the list in position 38th. The suburb was described as an oceanside suburb heaving with quirky local businesses and was hailed for elegant sunset views.
"A suggested perfect day in the ‘hood includes a morning swim at the Sea Point Pavilion, a visit to Mojo Market and shopping on Regent Street before a beach picnic for lunch."
"Follow that up with ocean kayaking, a late afternoon stroll on the promenade and a meal at La Perla while you watch the sunset," TimeOut stated.
The final African neighbourhood to appear on the list was Festac Town in Lagos, Nigeria, which emerged at position 50. The town, also known as the Festival town, was praised for its contemporary urban lifestyle.
Guadalajara, Mexico, also known as Colonial Americana, emerged as the top neighbourhood worldwide. The ranking described the town as the epicentre of Mexico's underground scene.
“It’s an edgy blend of art deco and neoclassical mansions with artists’ squats and warehouses containing some of the city’s best music venues," Timeout stated.
