A 25-year-old businesswoman from Njukini ward in Kirinyaga was rescued by her neighbours minutes before she took her life.

The young lady had shared an emotional suicide note online, lamenting that she owed money to her friends and family members.

She further complained that the Ksh63,000 debt was weighing down upon her as she could not raise the money, yet she was under pressure to offset the credit

"To my family, I am sorry, I am writing this to tell you goodbye if I failed you in any way, sorry," read part of the suicide letter.

Sadly, the mother also lost Ksh70,000 to a con artist on her way to the market in September 2022. Her life, since then, turned upside down.

"My business fell and could not operate normally. I have not been able to concentrate at work.

"Close to three weeks and the situation has left me in a bad state," she lamented in the note.

She was, nonetheless, grateful to her landlord, who allowed her to occupy the house despite accruing rent arrears and also appreciated her daughter.

"To my daughter may God always provide for you. Yesterday it broke my heart when they stopped you from boarding the school bus because of fee arrears," she wrote to her daughter.

Friends and relatives, however, rushed to her premises and forcefully broke into the house after she shared the message online. They also counselled and advised her against committing suicide.

The businesswoman made headlines in February 2022 after helping a homeless man roaming the streets.

Residents described her as a caring, loving, and kind neighbour.
