Nation Media Group (NMG) is now prioritising the digital segment after announcing changes with the Sunday Nation pullout, The Weekly Review.

In its Sunday, October 30, edition, the Kimathi Street-based outlet announced that it had ceased printing physical copies of the analytical magazine just two months after it was revived.

In the editor's note, the media house explained that it was positioning itself in line with the changing times and the publication would permanently live in its digital space.

"It is now time to shift gears. Just like the world has become digitised, so must the Weekly Review

"Beginning today's publication, The Weekly Review becomes a digital-only magazine that will be available for free as part of the Sunday Nation e-paper and on (Nation website)," read the statement in part.

The note further detailed that the publication had achieved its set target of analytically covering the election, an exercise that concluded with the swearing-in of President William Ruto's cabinet.

Its high slate of veteran journalists will, however, stay on and write their in-depth pieces aimed at attracting 'the thinking person' for the digital copy.

"The relaunch was timed to coincide with the recent political transition in the country, which concluded this week with the swearing-in of President William Ruto's Cabinet.

"Our best-known writers such as Jaindi Kisero, Macharia Gaitho and Kwendo Opanga will continue giving you punchy analysis of political, business and social news," added the statement.

It is, however, not clear whether the media house will maintain the publication's entire number of pages as well as its slate of veteran and new-school journalists.

During its relaunch on September 24, the design was reminiscent of the paper's 1990's version founded by the Harvard-educated Hilary Boniface Ngweno.

The cover of the magazine maintained its red border and artistically depicted the former first-lady seated on a throne, dressed in traditional attire and sporting a Kenyan flag colours-themed headpiece.

The Magazine introduced a new segment titled 'The Arena' that was super-modern and offered quote boxes to the Millennial and Generation X generations.
