President William Ruto has moved to revamp David Ndii’s Council of Economic Advisors, appointing two more technocrats to the committee.
In a dispatch from State House on Wednesday, November, 2, the President picked former East African Community Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed and Prof Vincent Machuki to the strategic office.
“It is therefore notified that the Head of State and Government has made additional appointments within the ranks of the Executive Office and other organs of State, appointing Adan Mohamed and Prof Vincent Machuki to help him in his transformative economic plan,” read a statement from Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.
President Ruto who had earlier appointed renowned economist David Ndii as the Chairperson of the Council, also sort to remodel other organs of the state.
Other members of Presidential Council of Economic Advisors include Nancy Laibuni and Mohammed Hassan.
Prior to his appointments, Adan Mohamed had served as the managing director of Barclays Bank in East and West Africa before being sworn in as the Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization of Kenya in 2013. He also had a stint as EAC Cabinet Secretary.
Adan Mohamed resigned from the Cabinet in February, 2022 to contest for Mandera County Governor’s seat. He failed to win!
On the other hand, Vincent Machuki is a Strategic Management scholar and consultant who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from Moi University, MBA and PhD degrees in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.
Prof. Machuki is currently the Director of Kisumu Campus of University of Nairobi and an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences.
Machuki has also served as the Coordinator of Strategy and Business Development in the former School of Business, University of Nairobi.
In the same notice, President Ruto also appointed Beatrice Salaal Lemedeket as the National Police Service Principal Administrative Secretary/Accounting Officer.
These appointments came just hours after the President released a list of 51 Principal Secretaries.
