Jubilee Vice-Chairperson David Murathe on Thursday, November 3 presented himself at the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC), following summons over graft allegations.
Murathe, a close ally of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, arrived at the Integrity Centre in the afternoon following an earlier summon to appear alongside former Lugari Mp Cyrus Jirongo over an inquiry into Ksh200 million land saga in Nairobi.
He however denied the allegations, saying that he was summoned over an ongoing probe into the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) scandal.
In 2020, Murathe had been invited to the anti-graft agency over links to Kilig Limited, a company that had been allegedly awarded Ksh4 billion by KEMSA for the supply of 450,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) at Ksh9,000 per piece.
Murathe denied the allegations saying that the owner of the firm was just a business associate, and he was in no way involved in any business dealings with the authority.
The firm, which was among nine others that were implicated in the matter, was awarded the lucrative contract only two months after registration.
Through his lawyer Wagara Koyyoko, Jirongo expressed his wish to be grilled in camera at his office in Westlands.
The lawyer stated that the root of the matter was a civil dispute that run decades back through many political administrations and at City Hall.
Reports indicate that also summoned for questioning were some Nairobi county officials linked to the land payments.
