A family in Sojo village, Sikawa sub-location, Narok County, is engrossed in a land tussle that has already claimed the lives of two people and left the children of the deceased living in perpetual fear.

One of the four surviving children in the land feud pitting his family, the stepmother and an uncle, recounted the horrific experience of how her mother was abducted from the house before her mutilated body surfaced 6 kilometres away.

At the centre of the feud is a 100-acre farm currently valued at Ksh200 million. Reports indicated that the land issue has been a perennial fiery topic in the family’s history.

While recalling the ordeal, the surviving child claimed that they were ordered to lie on the floor with their hands tied before the hit men disappeared with their mother.

The 56-year-old widow was said to be battling with her co-wife, who partnered with a paternal uncle to snatch the land. The duo reportedly filed for letters of administration for her husband's estate.

Family members alleged that the duo were also behind the death of the widow's husband, who was killed in cold blood on November 10, 2010, at his farmhouse.

The husband was allegedly sprayed with bullets when he left their house at night to check on an insecurity issue.

Following her husband's death, the matriarch who feared for her life documented the names of two people she believed were the prime suspects in her husband's death.

However, she passed away before the case was decided in court.

Her murder was reported at Enoosaren Police Station under OB number 24/02/11/2022, but the surviving children live in fear for their lives.

The orphans believed that their mother’s death was connected to the property tussle. They argued that she was assassinated after she filed an affidavit in court protesting the application for confirmation of grant of administration to the stepmother and brother-in-law.

She had also contested the inclusion of her co-wife's daughter as a beneficiary, claiming that she was not their husband’s biological child.
