Gogo Priscilla: One of the World's Oldest Pupils Dies at 99-Yrs-Old

One of the world’s oldest studentsPriscilla Sitienei Gogo, passed on Wednesday, November 16 at the age of 99. 

The old lady from Mosop in Nandi County died peacefully while sleeping on her bed and in the presence of some family members.

Her family stated that she had been discharged from Royal Hospital in Turbo, Uasin Gishu, to recuperate at home. 

Speaking to the Standard, her son, Sammy Chepsiror, explained that Gogo developed chest problems which barred her from attending school three days before her death.

Until her demise, she was the Girl Child Education ambassador, a role through which she empowered the girl child to use education as a source of wealth creation source. 

"I want to say to the children of the world, especially girls, that education will be your wealth don't look back and run to your father.

"With education, you can be whatever you want, a doctor, lawyer or a pilot,” her words read in an interview with international news BBC.

Gogo was a student at Vision Preparatory School in Ndalat, Nandi County before she passed away.

The deceased made history by appearing in the French educational film 'Gogo Priscilla', which attempted to motivate students in France to attend school.

Gogo embarked on a fantastic 10-day tour of France in September 2021 to promote the release of 'Gogo Priscilla'.

Kenyans joined other mourners online to celebrate the granny who joined school at the age of 90 years old. 

“The Oldest Pupil in the world Gogo Priscilla Sitienei, passed on. May Her Soul Rest in eternal Peace,” condoled Kimutai Leonard ArapKirwa.

“World Oldest Pupil Priscilla Sitienei Gogo, from Nandi County, passes on. RIP Gogo,” stated one Kilibwoni.
