Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung'u has sought reviews from Kenyans on tax policy measures and proposals that would widen the tax base in preparation for Finance Bill 2023.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, November 22, the Treasury CS noted that the proposals ought to be in line with the Economic Recovery Strategy and the country's economic blueprint, Vision 2030.
He added that the proposals should also take into consideration the government's manifesto in driving change toward various sectors.
These include the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) economy, Housing and Settlement, Healthcare, Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy.
"The proposals should echo the Economic Recovery Strategy and the country's economic blueprint Vision 2030.
"In particular Kenyans are encouraged to submit tax proposals that will facilitate achievement of the government objectives in Agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) economy, Housing and Settlement, Healthcare, Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy," read the statement in part.
"In addition, the proposals may include measures on regulatory reforms, revenue administration reforms, and any other measures that may enhance macroeconomic stability and reposition the economy on an inclusive and sustainable growth trajectory," the CS added.
According to the Treasury CS, the submissions ought to be supported by a statement from the tax laws and indicate how the proposed amendments would aid in fulfilling the government's mandate.
"The submissions should be specific on the proposed amendment to the tax law, supported by a statement on the issue to be addressed and a clear justification for the proposed amendment."
