In the recent push by Meru Members of the County Assembly (MCA) to oust governor Kawira Mwangaza, one MCA chose to stand alone.

68 out of 69 MCAs passed the motion tabled by Abogeta West Ward MCA Denis Kiogora to impeach the county boss on Tuesday, November 22.

However, Simon Kiambi MCA Kiagu ward, voted no. According to Kiambi, he saw no point in kicking out Mwangaza since he was not eyeing the governor's seat.

"I did not pass the motion since my people from Kiagu ward did not agree with impeaching the governor," he explained.

Additionally, the MCA noted that he has received backlash after his firm stands on the impeachment of the governor.

At the meeting to discuss the motion, Kiambi noted he posed two questions to the other MCA. He asked who was in talks with the deputy governor and the governor.

He also accused colleagues of trying to coerce him to append his signature in support of the motion.

Kiambi further called for peace in the county to facilitate the development projects aimed at benefiting Meru residents.

"Let my colleagues serve the people with the same energy they used to ask for votes. Deliver bursaries to your people," he encouraged.

Meru MCAs accused the governor of overstepping and misusing her position to hire family members.

"The governor's continued stay in office under the prevailing toxic environment will inevitably undermine effective and efficient service delivery to the people of Meru," Kiogora stated.

Kiogora further accused Mwangaza of breaking laws in the management of the county affairs.
