Former Makueni governor, Kivutha Kibwana, claimed that Kalonzo remains third in line to succeed President William Ruto if anything was to go by.

In a statement issued on Monday, November  28, Kibwana renewed his post-election beef with Kalonzo stating that the latter would never set foot in the State House even if he started campaigning early for 2027, just like Ruto did ahead of the 2022 elections.

He called out Kalonzo for reportedly adopting the strategy, arguing that the Wiper leader would pass the baton to another presidential hopeful in 2027.

"Isn't it premature for the Wiper Party leader to begin 2027 campaigns? From 2008, 2013, 2017, and now 2022, Kalonzo assured his community 'his turn has come, and finally, he 'Toshas' Raila.

"The enigma is still around; Martha is also waiting. When will the Kamba Nation call the Kalonzo bluff?" Kibwana questioned.

However, several Kenyans clapped back at the ex-county boss, accusing him of being envious of the Azimio principal.

"But sir, there was a lot of hope in you, and you did the about turn. Why blame a community, yet you don't provide for the much-needed alternative? These people are not in it for the masses but for their own gain," one user wrote.

"Yours is green envy against Kalonzo. Ruto's campaign started immediately after 2017. We as the people from the Lake region will vote for him to the last man," another stated.

Kibwana's statement came hours after Kalonzo pledged to campaign immediately after the August poll.

The Wiper Party leader has been out to build the foundation for his bid, starting from his home region.

He openly challenged a directive by Trade Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria, to evacuate squatters from land in Yatta belonging to the East African Portland Cement Factory.

On November 14, he objected to the construction of the Ksh425 billion High Grand Falls Dam in Tharaka Nithi, demanding that the government set out a clear plan for the compensation of locals.

When Azimio chief Raila Odinga had taken a break after the August poll, Kalonzo took up the opposition role stating that he would keep the government in check.
