Kenyans made suggestions to Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja on how to improve the Nairobi Festival shortly after the governor announced the dates for the event.
Sakaja announced on Sunday, December 4, that the inaugural Nairobi Festival will be held between Monday, December 12, and Saturday, December 17 at Uhuru Park.
Dubbed "Vibe of the City", the festival is expected to provide city residents an opportunity to showcase their talents, skills, and culture.
Kenyans took to Twitter to share with the governor what they thought would make the event memorable.
"Ahead of the Nairobi Festival by Governor Sakaja, is it possible for the Architectural Association of Kenya to share educative content on the County's history?
Can we have a portal with all history of Nairobi including architects, Engineers? What’s the Nairobi experience? Then and Now?" Phillip Ogola Twitted.
"Good job. Now please zone "Nairobi Nightlife Districts" where normal Nightlife can happen without interruptions by police," Kamau shared on his Twitter handle.
According to Kamau, without the zoning, no tourist would visit Nairobi city without nightlife. He went ahead to suggest the establishment of several nightlife districts in Kiambu and Nairobi counties.
Wangechi Gitahi, on the other hand, sought to know if the event was free of charge or had an entry fee.
"Can the county offer transport to and from several areas around Nairobi to the festival?" Wangechi asked adding that this will enable more Nairobians to experience the festival.
"Why not start with community clean up day then we do the Festivals in a clean Environment. Emulate the Umuganda Day just like Rwanda then all other things will just fall into place," Lameck Mokua suggested.
However, other Kenyans took the opportunity to troll the governor over the planned festival. Some of them asked the Governor to address urgent issues facing the county including insecurity, garbage collection, and roads among others.
The Nairobi Festival is Sakaja's flagship project as the governor of the City County.
“It is celebrating the culture, and the vibe of Nairobi, our art, our food, our musicians, our acrobats even our athletes, and our sports people," Sakaja indicated during the launch of the Green Park Terminus on Thursday, December 1.
The governor noted that during the festival, security will be beefed up to guarantee the safety of the attendees.
