Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on Sunday, December 18, donated Ksh3 million towards constructing a hospital dispensary in Maralal, Samburu County.

Gachagua. who addressed a gathering at a thanksgiving church service, gave Ksh1 million while his boss, President William Ruto, donated Ksh2 million.

“The President is lobbying for our interests in the US, and I have come here to represent him.

“I have seen the hospital dispensary project that you are undertaking, a good project, and since we are Christians, the president has donated Ksh 2 million while I will be donating Ksh1 million,” Gachagua declared.

The deputy president also informed the region that they would be considered for the appointment of their kinsmen whenever opportunities arose.

He, however, cautioned that they should not expect much as they had not voted for the Kenya Kwanza coalition as they did for Azimio.

“Chairman, you have stated that you did not get a minister. You all know I am a truthful man, but how would you have gotten one?

"The Maa regions have each received a minister yet you have a tendency of voting for Raila Odinga. In 2007, you voted for Odinga, 2013 you voted for him instead of Kenyatta, 2017 still for Odinga even after Ruto constructed churches and schools here,” he remarked.

Gachagua sought to understand why the community denied them the presidential votes.

“I would love to understand the main reasons before we get into any arrangement. What kind of mathematics is this?” he wondered.

"Narok and Kajiado counties voted for us en mass. Even if it were you, where would you have appointed ministers? Let us plan for that next time,” he added.

Gachagua equally asked Azimio-affiliated leaders to join the government for the region's development.

"I am respectfully requesting those in the opposition, kindly join us in government. Odinga is done. Let us welcome everyone in our fold (UDA) so we can foster development in our country," he stated.
