In what appears to be a solid plan, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that all Azimio members from the Mt Kenya region will have joined Kenya Kwanza by end of then year.

Speaking during a church service at Karatina catholic church on Sunday, November 20, Gachagua explained how 13 per cent of leaders from Central had realized that they were lost by being in Azimio and later rallied behind President William Ruto.

According to the DP, the few politicians in Azimio from the vote-rich region had been coerced in the run up to the August polls.

“ We are all behind Ruto. All those who were lost in Azimio came looking for us and we welcomed them to Kenya Kwanza. We will not leave anyone outside." he explained.

The second in command further noted that they have a target to hit by the end of the year.

“By December 31 all those who had been forced to be in Azimio from mount Kenya will be back to at Ruto’s party so that Mt Kenya can move together with the rest of the country,” he stated.

He congratulated the President for reaching out to Coast leaders who are affiliated to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, to work with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He made reference to Ruto’s trip to Mombasa where he welcomed Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro and his Mombasa counterpart Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir collaboration.

Gachagua also told the congregants that it was unusual for him to be away from the president especially on Sunday and that he had asked for permission to visit his backyard since it was forgotten land.

“ I told him that I want to look after my land which might be full of weeds since it is raining. I don't want people to look at it and wonder whether it belongs to the Deputy President.

Even if am in Nairobi as your leader that does not mean I will not be coming home. I will never change, am still the same Gachagua you knew," he stated.

The Kenya Kwanza Plan, the DP noted, entails the unity of Kenyans.

He was accompanied by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, Senator Wahome Wamatinga, Woman Rep Rahab Mukami and Mathira. MP Eric Wa Mumbi among others.
