"Today, I take a break from the newsroom and embark on a new journey.  It has been a wonderful 10 years:  at Nation, I have grown into the fine journalist I am today.

"I leave the Twin Towers regrettably. To my colleagues, thank you for being such a great support team," Murithi wrote.

Notably, he will be joining the Tharaka Nithi county government following his appointment as political advisor by governor Muthomi Njuki.

In the statement dated November 14, 2022, Njuki named the journalist in his team, news that took the senior reporter by surprise.

"I have just seen the press release just like you have. That's my name. I have received the message of my appointment. I thank the Governor for this," he told Kenyans.co.ke

The reporter joined Nation in February 2013 as a reporter for QTV, where he spent over three years. He then moved to NTV in June 2016.

His last news piece was aired on air on December 31, where he interviewed Senator Enoch Wambua on the fate of Kalonzo Musyoka's presidential bid.

Notably, his most popular interview was the exclusive with Kalonzo  dubbed 'I would be stupid to support Raila again.'

Murithi joined Salim Swaleh , Karen Knaust and Nicky Gitonga among other  journalists who landed jobs in county governments after 2022 polls.
